New Year’s Resolutions

Monday, January 26th, 2009

How are your new year’s resolutions going? did you make any?

If you didn’t make any or you did but you are already starting to slip here’s some tips to get you back on track. I give you these because I for one do make resolutions and ifind in the main that i stick to most, if not all of them.

1.Write them down – nothing works if they are just things in your mind that you say to yourself now again. Get them on a sheet of paper number them and carry them around with you or have them taped to the fridge or on the side of your computer and read them everyday, ideally twice a day

2.Word them in the positive. Rather than “I must stop smoking” go for something like “I choose to be a healthy person who exercises regularly” yes, you are giving up smoking but there is no need to focus on the loss. focus on what great things will happen when you stop smoking – you’re breath will smell better, so will your clothes, you’ll have more money in your pocket, your teeth and gums will thank you, your car will probably but worth more money or at least easier to sell. don’t all those things sound great!

3.Go for easily acheivable things and work up to big things in stages. If you want to earn more money this year that is a fantastic goal to have but putting down that you are going to be a multi millionaire and retire in 6 months time might be a push if you currently are in debt with no job. a good starting point could be ” I shall start my own (part time/full time) business this year.

4.Focus on your goals at least once a day. I know you’re thinking that sounds a bit stupid but you want your brain to keep working on those goals even whilst you sleep. You will find that great things happen when you focus on positive outcomes. If you are thinking about your resolutions and goals a lot you’ll find ideas will start to sprout like seeds.

5.Enjoy the journey. Don’t make your resolutions or goals a chore. Think about what you enjoy and think about what it will be like when you achieve your goals. They should motivate and inspire you, not feel like a trip to the dentist!

6.Reveiw them frequently. There is nothing wrong with changing your goals. You may start off with a goal that you want to open your own hairdressing salon. That may change in that you may see a market in your area for a mobile hairdressers. There is nothing wrong with changing your goal provided that it is a positive one and it keeps you moving forward.

7.Final one is a tough one. My advice is to share your goals. Ideally with someone you know and trust and someone who shares your positive outlook on life. Alternatively find a mentor to help you along the way. It will move you along the path to success much faster and hopefully make the journey a more enjoyable one.

Until next time

Are You And Your Business Doing Well?

Thursday, January 22nd, 2009

You’d be suprised by the number of people who when you ask them how they are doing they reply “Not Too Bad”

so What, you say!

For me “Not too bad” is such a negative reply. Think about it. All they are saying is they are barely above bad!  Me I’m a “glass half full” person rather than “half empty” and I think that if you really want to succeed personally and professionally you will do a lot better if you change your mindset to become a “glass half full” person.

I know what you’re thinking. That’s easy for you to say. You don’t have huge bills to pay, just been laid off, etc. its hard to see the glass being half full. possibly it is but there are opportunities out there. If you focus on oppportunities and take action, however small, watch what happens. things improve, slowly at first but then faster and faster. people and things will appear at the right time to help you on your road to success. But only if you really believe they will.

If I was to recommend one book it would be Napoleon Hill’s “Think And Grow Rich” Go and Get it and I genuinely believe that you’ll be inspired to think differently and act differently and hopefully you’ll become a “glass half full” person.

And if you need some support along the way, I’ll be happy to help

What Do You Really Want From Life?

Tuesday, January 20th, 2009

Before embarking on any business in my view you first need to sort your head out! By this I simply mean that you must first decide what you want out of life before you start your new business/new job/whatever.

There is no point starting any business thinking just about the money. Most people (not all) but most, who are successful are doing something they love or at least like doing. They jump out of bed in the morning with a smile on their face. Whilst they work hard a lot of the time it doesn’t feel like hard work. it may not be their hobby but its pretty close.

Me, I like writing and I like giving advice. I’m a good listener and I like to think that I can be relatively objective, or at least as much as anybody can. so what I do for a living is trying to combine things I’m quite good at with things I enjoy. The money is important but the key thing is I didn’t start out doing this for the money. I did it because I enjoy it and the money then followed.

So think about what you love or at least what you like doing and then think about how you can turn that into an income. And remember it doesn’t have to be a full time income. Spare cash for doing something you like doing is great and if it mushrooms into a full time activity even better.

What else do you need to succeed. Well, I know it is often repeated, but somebody who has more knowledge than you that you can learn from will save you a hell of a lot of time. That person will also, hopefully inspire you and give you a kick up the a…s when you need it.

Is this all going to happen over night. Do you really believe it will? If you do, you’re dreaming. It can happen relatively quickly but only if you put in a hell of a lot of work. Not prepared to do that? Get back to your computer and do as your boss tell you.

Undervalued Sites – Should You Buy

Wednesday, January 14th, 2009

The answer is yes and no! sorry I know that’s not much help to you.

There are thousands of websites out there that are fantastic! Full of great content, good product but if they haven’t been marketed very well then the site isn’t going to be worth what it should be. these are great sites to try and buy since with some simple marketing you can really increase the value of the site in a a short space of time.

I would recommend using a keyword research tool such as wordtracker to find valuable niche’s. From there you then look to buy websites in that area. One great way to find fantastic products at knock down prices is to go to clickbank and look for products that aren’t doing that well. this maybe because the owner has lost interest, moved onto bigger projects and neglected this one or else ti could simply be that the sales letter is no good. by e mailing the owner and offering to buy the product off him he may jump at the chance. if his product isn’t selling and you offer him a couple of hundred dollars for it he may think why not! Look you’re going to have to do a bit of work but its a simple e mail. It may be your first e mail or your fiftieth before someobody bites but it won’t take that long to cut and paste and e mail and send it. You could then have a ready made professional product in days rather than months!

People who trade in buying and selling of undervalued websites also often use Search Engine optimization to increase the value of the website and selling the website at its heightened value for a profit. Many websites nowadays give free advice on how to buy undervalued web sites, improve their value and sell them for a profit. However, there is a need to be wary of scams. Go with your instinct. The unofficial slang word for this activity is also called flipping web sites. If you already have a buyer in mind, you can flip the website according to his or her preference.
